1980-1988    
1989  

Nursing Services, Inc.(NSI) is established as a division of a regional health care management and development company to provide temporary personnel to managed and owned nursing homes.  NSI expands its temporary staffing business to nursing homes, hospitals, retirement homes, and other health care providers within a 40 mile radius of Hartford.


1991  
Linda and Larry Tucker purchase and incorporate the Company.
1992-1993  
NSI/Elderforce, Inc. (Elderforce) is established to provide various non medical support services to help older adults maintain their independent lifestyle.
1994-1995  

NSI expands its program of health services and is licensed by the State of Connecticut Department of Health Services as a home health agency and is certified for Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement.

1996-1998  

NSI receives Accreditation with Commendation signifying exemplary performance in meeting National standards by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).  NSI and Elderforce open a satellite office in Old Saybrook, CT to service the Connecticut River Valley and Shoreline.


1999  

NSI forms Senior Living Services (SLS), a State Licensed Assisted Living Services Agency (ALSA) to provide services to senior communities throughout Connecticut.

2000-2001  

JCAHO accreditation is extended to 2001.  NSI in partnership with United Methodist Homes (UMH) of Shelton, CT opens Middlewoods of Farmington, a 72 unit assisted living facility.

2002-2003  

NSI takes over the operations of a West Hartford, CT based home health care agency. JCAHO accreditation is extended to 2004.

2004-2005  

NSI purchases a non-medical companion/homemaking agency with office in Farmington and Danbury, CT.  NSI is recognized by the Hartford Business Journal as the 5th largest women owned business in greater Hartford. 


2006-2007

JCAHO accreditation is extended to 2007.  Hartford Business Journal recognizes NSI as one of the top women owned businesses in greater Hartford. Elderforce is designated as exclusive provider for the East Hartford, CT Chore Services Program. Elderforce becomes one of the founding members of the Connecticut Homemaker Companion Association (CTHCA).


2008  

Linlar, Inc., an affiliate of NSI, purchases property adjacent to the corporate office building for future expansion.  Succession planning is completed to turn ownership of NSI and Elderforce over to Linda and Larry Tucker’s daughters, Melissa and Yvette Roming.  JCAHO accreditation is extended to 2009.  NSI sells ownership interest in Middlewoods of Farmington and SLS to its partner, UMH.  Hartford Business Journal again recognizes NSI as one of the top women owned businesses in greater Hartford.  Elderforce is certified for the Connecticut Supplier Diversity Program which allows small and minority businesses to bid on State purchases.


   

NSI received the prestigious Family Business of the Year Award from the University of Connecticut Family Business Program which recognizes exceptional family businesses that exemplify core family values, business success, multigenerational involvement, and dynamic contributions to community and industry in Connecticut. Hartford Business Journal again recognizes NSI as one of the top women owned businesses in greater Hartford.
